Another New School Year

August 24, 2019 by Helena Trent 2 Comments

David started 10th grade this past Thursday. Friday night was the first football night of the season. David plays clarinet in the matching band. I don’t watch the football game but I would show up just for the half-time show. The PR Band is a very impressive bunch, 250 students in the band. They are an army!!! Every school year, they do a big trip performance. They performed at Disney last school year, will be going to the Kentucky Derby this year. I am happy to see a home game during the football season. When they match onto the football field, it is quite a sight! It always uplifts my spirit. I am not even there to watch David because he wouldn’t tell me where he is. lol! I just enjoy the music and the performance knowing my son is having fun and part of something bigger than himself.

He is somewhere in here. I have no idea!

David Buried Mommy

Buried with Love

Greetings from the beaches of Wilmington, NC. It has been a wonderful week being a beach bum. 🙂

David came out to the beach with me at sunset last night and buried me… with love… so I can’t go anywhere. It was complete with a seashell headstone and a heart! lol! It was so funny. Good practice for that kid someday hopefully in the far away future.

I was happy to spend sometime with my father-in-law this week. His late girlfriend/partner passed away years ago whom I have only met a few times, but never really got to know her very well. He told me she lived with breast cancer for 18 years before she passed away. I was shocked. I had no idea she was sick, only knew that she passed away suddenly. If she could live with cancer for 18 years without chemo or radiation, who knows how long I could live with cancer. Living by the ocean soothed her in the last few years of her life. That’s why they moved to Wilmington.

I look forward to our return to the beach in the near future!

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to you all mothers!

I am enjoying my mother’s day weekend. I taught a 2-hour continuing class yesterday morning, went out to lunch with a few tai chi friends, then watched a ballet show, Sleeping Beauty by the Pittsburgh Ballet Company complementary of another tai chi friend! It was such a beautiful and enjoyable day! By the time I got home, I felt like I needed to be the sleeping beauty for the next century! LOL!

David is cooking me dinner tonight. He is sweet! I am happy to be part of his life and see him grow up to be a young man.

Thank you all for your generous donations! I have started my Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments. My herbalist made me a personalized tea to improve my chi circulation. It’s freshly made weekly, taken twice a day. It’s very bitter with a sweet after taste. It took me a few days to adjust to it, but I think I like it now. 🙂

I also started my acupuncture treatments this past week. Since I don’t have any specific pain issues, she aimed the treatments at boosting my immune system and balance my energy. I had pins literally from head and toe. I freaked out a bit when she put pins in my crown and temples, but was able to quickly relaxed into it and took a 45-minute deep nap during the treatment. I guess sleep is the best medicine if nothing else.

I will go back to my sleeping beauty mode! 🙂

P.S. If have the power to give birth to another human being, then I have the power to give birth to myself… re-generating each cell, each organ, each tissue and bone… Just like being pregnant with a baby and I can’t rush the development process, I can’t rush my healing process either. It takes the perfect amount of time the body needs. All is well.
