Chemo or no chemo?

July 10, 2019 by Helena Trent 2 Comments

I met with my oncologist this morning to go over my latest liver biopsy results. The purpose of the liver biopsy was 2-fold, one to make sure the new spots are cancerous and if so, if it’s a different type of cancer than the one I was originally diagnosed with. The results showed that it is cancerous and it is the same type of cancer. That means my body no longer responds to the drug I am on even though it did wonders for me the first three months.

What’s his next recommendation? Chemo as expected. I already voiced my hesitancy in my last visit. He was well aware of that so he talked through all the possible options and possibilities with me. Without going into all the details, chemo is the best logical next step.

However, I told him about all the alternative treatments I have been on since April and how well I have been feeling… he could already see that. I asked for another CT scan and MRI just to see if anything I have done so far made any difference. He agreed. He also ordered a blood biopsy just to be sure there is no other alternatives available.

CT Scan and MRI are scheduled next Thursday & Friday. Based on the results of those tests, we will make our decisions for the next step. Let’s pray for an improvement in the scans!

Greetings from Canada!

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! I am in Orangeville for tai chi week this week. This is the best tai chi week I have had in a long time where I am able to participate in most of the activities. I am definitely sweating and getting a lot of circulations going whether is from the heat or from tai chi, I am happy I am getting all the junk out of me.

I also visited a Korean doctor while I am here. He mostly works with people on diet and exercise. He told me I have been eating all the wrong kinds of foods for a long time. According to his practice, I am supposed be be eating everything underground not above ground, so root vegetables are good like potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc. everything above ground is bad for me especially fruits. Of course I have been eating lots of different kinds of fruits and vegetables for antioxidants, etc. Go figure! So, a new diet to try out! He also gave me a Korean acupuncture treatment which is very different than the Chinese acupuncture treatments that I get weekly. He also put a gel patch on my back to help dissolve the tumors in my lungs. It’s itching me like crazy but he said that means it’s working! 🙂

I am also trying a very fancy PEMF mat to reset my energy on a cellular level. PEMF mats have been used in Europe to treat cancer. It’s a very expensive purchase of course, so I am renting it for 5 weeks to try it out. I am suppose to be able to see a difference in my blood test results next time I go to the doctors. Fingers cross!

Speaking of doctor’s appointments, I am meeting with my oncologist next Wednesday to go over my liver biopsy results. Would be interesting to see what he recommends as the next step. Will keep you all posted!

David Buried Mommy

Buried with Love

Greetings from the beaches of Wilmington, NC. It has been a wonderful week being a beach bum. 🙂

David came out to the beach with me at sunset last night and buried me… with love… so I can’t go anywhere. It was complete with a seashell headstone and a heart! lol! It was so funny. Good practice for that kid someday hopefully in the far away future.

I was happy to spend sometime with my father-in-law this week. His late girlfriend/partner passed away years ago whom I have only met a few times, but never really got to know her very well. He told me she lived with breast cancer for 18 years before she passed away. I was shocked. I had no idea she was sick, only knew that she passed away suddenly. If she could live with cancer for 18 years without chemo or radiation, who knows how long I could live with cancer. Living by the ocean soothed her in the last few years of her life. That’s why they moved to Wilmington.

I look forward to our return to the beach in the near future!
